TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods Crack Down on Thieves with New System

Employees at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods may now wear body cameras as part of a new safety initiative by parent company TJX. The cameras aim to deter crime, de-escalate incidents, and enhance security.

A TJX spokesperson emphasized the commitment to a safe environment for customers and staff, noting only trained employees will wear the cameras. Footage will be shared only with law enforcement or under subpoena.

Retail expert Carol Spieckerman highlighted the challenge of tracking inventory in TJX’s “treasure-hunt” shopping model, adding context to the new measure.

Will this step improve safety or go too far?
