David Wilburn Parton, Dolly Parton’s older brother, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, at 82. The news was shared by his sister, Stella Parton, on social media, where she expressed her sadness and love for her brother, calling him an “amazing soul.”
David, the second oldest of 11 Parton siblings, lived a quiet life away from the spotlight. He was a superintendent and bridge builder for Simpson Construction in Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton, daughters Donna and Dena, nephew/son Lucas, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
David received care from Dr. David McNabney, Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, and caregivers Aubrie Smith and Robin Schmidt, whom the family deeply appreciated.
The funeral will take place at Leadvale Baptist Church in White Pine, Tennessee, on Tuesday, November 19.
David’s passing follows that of his brothers Randy (2021) and Floyd (2018). Dolly, who has not yet publicly commented, previously shared her faith and hope during times of loss, writing after Randy’s death that the family believes in God’s protection and the joyful reunion of loved ones in heaven.
