On my 80th birthday, I surprised my daughter by visiting her. When she opened the door, she seemed uneasy and told me I couldn’t stay because she had a lot going on. As I left, I saw two unfamiliar people inside and, worried for her safety, I called the police. The officers soon arrested the intruders. My daughter ran out, crying, and explained she’d been trying to protect me, not knowing how to handle the break-in. Relieved, I hugged her tight. The day turned into an unforgettable birthday, with my daughter safe and together at last.
